TIPS FOR TODAY:
You know how sometimes you haven’t heard of something, or thought about it in a long time, and then suddenly it starts showing up all over the place? Well, that’s what’s happened with me recently in regard to iodine, so I figured the Universe was trying to tell me something. I guess iodine is showing up more partly because it is a primary form of natural protection against radiation and I read one article about how the west coast could actually end up receiving more radiation from Fukushima than Tokyo.
Anyway, I decided it was time to do a blog post devoted to the topic featuring all the information and resources I’ve found lately. I ended up having so much stuff that I decided to break it up into two posts. Here’s Part I….
# 1 – True or false: You get enough iodine in your diet by using iodized salt.
If you said “true,” you’re wrong — over the last 30 years, iodine levels in the U.S. have fallen by nearly 50%, despite the use of iodized salt (which is, as you’ll see, a very poor source of the iodine you need). And this decline in dietary iodine has now been linked to the alarming increase in maladies such as heart disease, thyroid disorders, and cancer of the thyroid, prostate, and breast.
Renowned holistic physician Dr. David Brownstein considers iodine the single most important nutrient for preventing disease and achieving optimal health. And because of its wide-ranging health ramifications, he has recently helped create a FREE video presentation to help you protect yourself and your family from this seeming epidemic of iodine deficiency.
I have to say I wasn’t crazy about the way the presentation is put together….with that lady breaking in every once in awhile like some late night shopping channel, but I found the information very helpful and it caused me to wonder if I was iodine deficient. Turns out I am, even though I use Himalayan crystal salt and periodically take a supplement w/ sea vegetables, both sources of natural iodine. So I looked into a number of iodine products and the one my body tested as wanting/needing was Detoxadine. You can get it from Amazon, but the price is better at Global Healing Center, and if you do go to GHC, check out the O2Zap while you’re there. I’ve wanted some ever since I read a review by Mike Adams of Natural News, and finally got some with my Detoxadine and definitely am impressed with how it’s helped with certain skin conditions ( I’ve also used GHC’s Oxy-powder in the past….even mention it in my health e-book…. and think it’s great, too).
# 2 – I’m not sure how accurate this report is, but can you imagine growing up without being able to play in the dirt and run barefoot in the grass?
# 3 – Here’s a fascinating article about iodine, thyroid conditions and coconut oil….
It mentions something I wasn’t aware of….that eating certain healthy foods (such as broccoli, cauliflower and spinach (one of my faves!) raw can actually interfere w/ the production of thyroid hormones, but cooking the veggies alleviates the problem. Using a number of supposedly “good for you oils” can also have a negative impact on the thyroid; however, coconut oil (my fave!) once again comes out smelling like a rose.
Want more on the uses and benefits of coconut oil?
# 4 – FYI, Forbidden Knowledge TV has a big section on radiation, including videos on Fukushima, plus a 2 min. video on how to test for the presence of radiation in a room using strips of a newspaper (fascinating!)…
# 5- An update on radiation from Natural News…
# 6 – Dr. Nicholas Hedberg’s site offers a free e-course on the thyroid and other related resources…
He has also written a book titled The Thyroid Alternative AND for the next 72 hours (until midnight Saturday) Dr. Hedberg’s book will be available for free download from Amazon. This is the Kindle version but you don’t need a Kindle to read it!

# 7 – And to end on, another good one from Abraham…
“Your life is right now! It’s not later! It’s not in that time of retirement. It’s not when the lover gets here. It’s not when you’ve moved into the new house. It’s not when you get the better job. Your life is right now. It will always be right now. You might as well decide to start enjoying your life right now, because it’s not ever going to get better than right now—until it gets better right now!”— Abraham
